Anaphylaxis Awareness (Food Safety Edition)
Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening medical emergency and requires immediate treatment. A severe allergic reaction can cause an anaphylactic shock and must be treated with an adrenaline pen. Anaphylaxis is a severe and sudden allergic reaction. It is the most immediate form of an allergic reaction, sometimes known as Type 1. The whole body can be affected when someone is exposed to something they are allergic to and it can happen very quickly — within minutes, or up to four hours later. Common triggers include certain foods, insect stings or bites, medicines and latex.
In this module, we give the learner an understanding of Anaphylaxis, the symptoms and treatments, we look at Living with Anaphylaxis and the Law, including Natasha’s Law.
