The module aims to give you the key information points on the government’s welfare reform programme and how it is likely to affect those to whom its provisions will apply. The philosophy underpinning the Welfare Reform Act is to get people off welfare and into work and that nobody should be better off on benefits than in work. The module covers the main changes and new measures.In this module, learners will understand the effect of the welfare reform programme upon these key areas: Council Tax, Discretionary Housing Payments, Non-Dependant Deductions, Under-occupation size criteria, Responses to welfare reform, Pension Credits, Personal Independence Payments and Welfare-to-work.
